Training Courses Developed and Instructed
“View Restrictions”       

1980-1984

A 2-hour presentation to BRPD Academy Cadets addressing issues specific to view restrictions as relating to investigation of traffic collisions.  Topics included documentation of physical barriers as well as glare, lighting, etc.

"Hit and Run Investigations"

1988-1991

A 2-hour presentation to BRPD Academy Cadets addressing issues specific to the on-scene investigation of hit and run accidents.  Topics included analysis of vehicle damage and collection/preservation of evidence.

“Technical Accident Investigation”

1993-1996

A 40-hour tested course designed for academy cadets and commissioned law enforcement officers responding to traffic accidents.  Topics included methods of identifying, documenting and preserving the short-lived evidence associated with a collision.  Basic speed equations, field testing and vehicle dynamics.  Attended by BRPD, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s, West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s, Tangipahoa Sheriff’s and Ascension Parish Sheriff’s personnel.

“Traffic Accident Reconstruction”

1997

A 40-hour tested course designed for commissioned law enforcement officers responsible for the investigation of traffic accidents.  Included methods of identifying, documenting and preserving the short-lived evidence associated with a collision as well as interpreting that data.  Involved speed equations, field testing, vehicle dynamics, momentum, time-distance studies and crush analysis.  Attended by personnel from Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Department, Hammond City Police, Slidell City Police, Southeastern University Police.

“CABS”, (Caution at Bus Stops)

1997

A school bus safety project funded by the LA Highway Safety Commission and implemented through the LA Department of Education in five school districts in LA.  Program to enhance safety for young school children at bus stops.  Designed hand-out material and video for children, parents, bus drivers and general public.  Included PSA’s, billboard campaign, evaluation of accident records to determine causative factors and presented safety training to over 500 bus drivers.
